Depending on  your exam, you may or may not be asked to empty your bladder before hand. You might be asked to drink water, its also possible you will need to fast 4 to 8 hours before your exam. In general ultrasound studies last between 10 to 45 mins. Certain vascular tests, on the other hand, may take more than an hour.
